Oyster Festival to Bubble with Bollinger

Live music, sensational seafood, mouth-watering dining and the Bollinger National Oyster Opening Championships will kick start the Oyster & Seafood Festival weekend's celebrations on Friday 28th September 2012.

Following the opening ceremony, Irish oyster openers will be competing to oust the reigning champion, Michael Moran from his well-earned title of Irish Oyster Opening Champion.

With Bollinger on hand, bubbles & bites will be the order of the day. Like champagne, oysters take on the flavour of their home. Eating a fresh oyster is like eating the essence of the ocean giving the evening the apt title of ‘Taste of the Sea’.

Events goers will savour local produce in the Food Village with Galway’s best restaurants including Artisan and Cava Tapas Restaurant serving signature seafood dishes.

The Galway Native Oyster will also be available throughout the evening and no doubt, attendees will be tempted by the pairing of elegant Bollinger champagne with the creaminess and texture of the Galway native oyster. A match made in foodie heaven.

To quote Madame Lily Bollinger: 'I drink it when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it when I'm not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty of course."

Entertainment will be provided by A Band Called Wanda and The Bentley Boys who will ensure you find your dancing feet before the night’s end.

For great food, great fun, dancing, glamour, non-stop laughter, oysters and champagne galore, a night at the Oyster Festival Taste of the Sea with the Bollinger National Oyster Opening Championship is a must!

The opening night of the Festival will once again raise funds for the Galway Lifeboat via the RNLI - the charity that saves lives at sea.

Tickets for the Marquee event on Friday 28th  September are priced at €35 and are available on www.galwayoysterfestival.com or call the Festival Team directly on 091 575875.
