Pearl of Pride at Galway Oyster & Seafood Festival
The 58th Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival calls all hopeful ladies to take part in the renowned Oyster Pearl Competition
Would you like to represent your Company and your City? Do you have what it takes to be the next Oyster Pearl?
Running since 1954, the Oyster Pearl competition has a long standing tradition with the winning Pearl overseeing all the festival activities and becoming the ‘face’ of the festival for its duration and indeed for the year to come. Each Pearl nominee is sponsored by a local business. Sponsoring a Pearl associates your company with an internationally recognised festival known for its hospitality, experience and style. As a Sponsor your company will be part of the many publicity opportunities presented from the nomination stage right up to the Festival itself
In order to make it more accessible for City businesses to be represented, this year’s selection process will see changes on previous years. All nominees are invited to meet at Hotel Meyrick at 5pm on Thursday 16th August for photos and a private sponsors’ drinks reception.
Individual interviews will take place at the end of August and the judges’ final decision will be announced on Galway Bay FM on Thursday 6th September. Along with representing the festival, city and county the lucky winner will receive tickets to all events at the 2012 festival valued in excess of €600.
To be part of the 2012 Oyster Pearl event be sure to nominate your pearl to join a host of Galway’s beautiful ladies, all vying for the coveted Oyster Pearl Crown at the 58th Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival! Contact the Festival Team on 091 575875 for more details.
This year’s Oyster Pearl will be present for all events taking place throughout the festival including the Food Village at the Festival marquee with restaurants such as Cava Tapas Restaurant and Artisan Restaurant, the Bollinger National Oyster Opening Competition, the Seafood Trail with each diner offered an oyster, the Guinness World Oyster Opening Championship, the inaugural Gala Mardi Gras Event through the streets of Galway and will end the festival on a proverbial high with the Family Fun Day and the Hot Oyster Awards on Sunday 30th September.
